Black Percher Dragonfly (female) – Nishana

This is a picture of a Black Percher Dragonfly (female). It’s easy to tell the difference between the male and female species. The adult male would be all glossy black in color and the female would have a yellowish-green with the black color only present as small stripes across the thorax. Usually seen in the backyards or near water areas and are found perching often. A confusing aspect of this species is that, an older female would appear all black in color; however it’s not glossy like the male species.

Nishana
