Actor Kamal Haasan and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that they were united in fight against corruption.
They made the declaration at a joint press conference in Chennai.
“There has been a lot of speculation about why he came to meet me. The purpose is singular — he has a national profile of fighting against corruption. So no wonder we had a dialogue about this and we are united in this, ” Mr. Haasan said, adding that he was pleased and honoured that the Delhi Chief Minister came to meet him.
Mr. Kejriwal said, “It’s important at this point of time when we are battling against corruption, all like-minded people should talk to each other and come together.”
They exchanged ideas and discussed the situation in Tamil Nadu. “We will continue to meet,” he added.
This is their second meeting. In September 2015, Mr. Haasan met Mr. Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat seeking support for the film industry.
The present meeting comes amid speculation over Mr. Haasan’s entry into politics. The actor last week said he was considering floating his own political party.
