The police custody of actor Dileep, accused of conspiring in a case of abduction and sexual assault of a Malayalam woman actor in February this year, has been extended by another day.

The Judicial Magistrate Court in Angamaly, near here, allowed the police investing the case to keep the actor in custody till 5 p.m. on Saturday pending investigation. The bail petition moved by the actor will be considered after this.

The actor was produced in the court on Friday morning after expiry of two days’ custody as granted by the court, which heard the counter affidavit filed by the police before extending the custody.

The prosecution apprised the court of the gravity of the offence and said it was ready to produce the case diary in a sealed envelope.

Over the last two days, the police took the actor to various places in Ernakulam and Thrissur in a bid to collect evidence of the alleged conspiracy besides grilling him at the Police Club at Aluva.
